Huda Beauty: The New Nude Eyeshadow Palette Tutorial

Before we get started on creating your eye makeup look, create a flawless base for your face by using a makeup method favored by Huda – contouring. Start with a hydrating moisturizer before applying your usual primer and foundation. Then use a dark contour stick to accentuate the hollow of the cheeks, the edges of the nose and the hairline, following up with a light contour stick to attract lights to key areas: your cheekbones, nose tip, chin or brows. Always start by applying an eyeshadow base so that your eyeshadow stays in place and lasts longer - after all, it would be a shame to go to all this effort, only for it to fade in a few hours! To create the eye makeup base, mix together a blend of various shade combinations for a more natural look. Begin by brushing the BARE shade over the entire eyelid. With the SECRET shade, you will create a light halo on the crease area. For this, take a blending brush and use small circular motions to ensure the shades blend together effortlessly. Then, use the darker shade RAW with a shadow brush. The goal here is to work the shade to the outer corner of the eye and sweep the pigments to the temples, so that it forms a triangle.

Now we have established a matte base, we’ll use the eye strobing technique to draw light to the inner corner of the eye, using shades that will highlight and add a subtle shimmer. The shade you will need for this is DAYDREAM, a delicate pink glitter color. Using the flat eyeshadow brush, pat the eyeshadow all over the inner corner of the eye, sweeping slightly over the eyelid and to the inner corner of the eye. Accentuate the contrast by taking the dark shade LOVEBITE. Apply using gentle strokes with your brush from the outer area of the eye into the crease of the eyelid stopping approximately at the level of your pupil to add depth to your lid.

Even though we apply mascara almost every day, there are some beauty rules to remember for even better application. To achieve the desired application, you need to apply two layers minimum. The first layer should go from the root to the tip of the eyelashes, building up the color to better underline the eye. Let this layer dry for a few seconds before starting again, this time sliding the brush between the eyelashes using a ‘zigzag’ movement. This will allow the lashes to separate while still loading them with product for a volumizing effect.

Be careful not to smudge your eye makeup as you apply the mascara, but if you do accidentally transfer some product onto your eyelid, don’t panic – there are solutions to fix this without having to start all over again! Wait for the mascara to dry and then take a clean brush (the clean brush of an old mascara will do) or sponge to gently rub in the product. If the mascara is particularly stubborn, add a small amount of cleanser to a cotton swab and dab carefully to remove any black traces.

Depending on the color of the eye makeup, a shade that is too light, too bright or too dark can easily ruin all your efforts. Before application, always start by moisturizing your lips. The lips have a very thin epidermis, devoid of sebum that requires careful maintenance, so scrub once a week and moisturize every day with a nourishing balm.

PLACEMENT: Start by drawing an X on your cupid's bow, extending the line to the outer corners of the mouth and follow one of the below correction techniques, depending on the shape of your lips. To naturally increase the size of your lips: Apply the Lip Contour just outside the natural line of your lips. Stay close to the original curves, you don’t want to exaggerate too much. To correct the shape of your lips: Use the same technique as above for where you want to increase volume and follow the natural line of lips for the remaining part.

To reduce full lips: Apply foundation or concealer and draw the shape of your lips just inside the natural outline of your lips. For the bottom lip, draw a horizontal line from the center to the outer corners. Create a deep effect by drawing a vertical line in the center of your lips to emphasize the inner corners of your mouth. It may sound a bit complicated, but in reality, this is just mastering another makeup technique called lip contouring, which helps you to define and create the perfect mouth shape.

Now, it’s time to apply the liquid matte lipstick using the shade we picked out earlier.
