The Beach Babe Wave

(Updated 14/06/2021 11:28)

Whether you are heading to the beach, or want to perfect that bedhead, tousled effect for everyday life, this trend is one of the easiest to master this summer. For once, we’re not aiming for perfection - you want to look like you have been swimming in the surf all day, which means your hair should fall in relaxed, loose waves, rather than tight, perfect pin curls.

How To Get Perfect Beach Waves

Step 1: Clean & Cleanse

Start by washing and conditioning your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner to help give you texture and bounce. The Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Shampoo thickens and separates each strand to help with volume, while the sulfate-free formula cleanses without stripping or dulling hair.

Step 2: Prep Like A Pro

Gently towel dry your hair and comb through to remove any knots. It’s important to apply a heat protectant to your hair before applying any heat styling, so spritz on to damp strands before you start blowing through the hair. As you dry your hair, scrunch up sections in your hand to add a shot of texture and help your waves stay in place once you start curling.

Step 3: Get Curling

Separate your hair into 2 inch sections and apply a spritz of heat spray to each section before you begin styling. Take each section of hair and wrap it around the curling wand, making sure to twist as you do this, as it will give the curls an ‘undone’ look when you unravel them and leave the ends straight. Once you have finished curling each section, give your strands a gentle pull on the ends to avoid tight, perfect curls.

Step 4: Add Texture & Set

To give your curls an added boost, gently backcomb your strands to give the appearance of a naturally tousled style - remember, this is not about perfection, we’re aiming for a messy look! If you want to amp up the volume, Ouai’s Dry Texture Foam adds hold, thickness and grit for instant texture without the weight. Apply the product to both hands and then starting at the ends, gently scrunch into your hair, working your way up to the root.
